END OF SUMMER PARTY

I love having people over for dinner especially when the weather is warm and the kids can all eat outside and play together while the adults stay on the screened in porch. The kind people over at Partypail sent me some adorable dinnerware so I had to throw one more end of the summer party. I chose these lemon inspired plates and napkins. We had a few different lemonades to choose from, raspberry, blueberry and a traditional lemonade. In the little paper cups I put a little cucumber, rice vinegar and red onion salad. It was a nice light snack that went well with the grilled meat at dinner. 
I used PartyPail's guest towels as placemats. I bought these little glass bottles at Target and Gordmans.
Now with the cooler weather coming we'll have to head indoors :(

THE WINTHROP CHRONICLES SHOP PACKAGING

Recently, the kind people over at Signazon sent me some customized vinyl stickers. I knew the perfect place for them would be on my wall art from my shop. I love finding new ways to package my items and a little sticker on the back of the wood is a perfect little touch. You can check out the other wall art I sell at my shop here.

PEANUT BUTTER BROWNIES

Oh I just love brownies and love adding different goodies in them. This time it was peanut butter. I received some chocolate baking mix from Oh Mercy and it makes the brownie making so quick and easy, just a few ingredients. And it's great having her baking mix on hand if I want to make other chocolate treats, like cupcakes or cookies. Chocolate Peanut Butter Brownies
1/4 cup butter (melted)
1 cup sugar
1 egg
1 1/4 cup Sweet Mercy Chocolate Baking Mix
1/4 to 1/3 cup water
1/4 cup semi sweet chocolate chips
1/4 cup peanut butter

Optional:
Reese's cups minis
Whipping cream or ice cream
Peanut butter chocolate hot fudge (recipe below)

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease an 8 x 8 pan. Mix all of the ingredients (except for the chocolate chips and peanut butter) in a medium sized bowl. Fold in chocolate chips. Pour in to prepared pan. Drop spoonfuls of peanut butter on top of the brownies. Use a knife and run it through the brownies back and forth about 4 times to mix the peanut butter in the brownies. Bake for 35-40 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.

I topped the brownies with homemade heavy whipping cream that I put in the freezer so that it was more like an ice cream consistency. I also added some Reese's cups minis.

Peanut Butter Chocolate Hot Fudge

(Recipe source)
1 cup heavy whipping cream
4 ounces semi-sweet chocolate, coarsly chopped
1/4 cup peanut butter
1 cup powdered sugar
1/2 tsp. vanilla
pinch salt

In a medium sauce pan heat the cream over medium heat until it starts to boil. Remove from heat and add the chocolate and peanut butter. Whisk together until the mixture is smooth. Add powdered sugar, vanilla and salt, mixing after each addition. Let mixture cool for about 10 minutes before serving. Store extra in the refrigerator

PACKING FOR ITALY IN THE FALL

We are only packing some carry on bags when we travel so I have been thinking about what items I will be bringing. My space is limited so I am focusing on just a few things that are versatile. I needed to pack for hiking, traveling, going to church, and sightseeing. I packed two semi-casual outfits, two hiking outfits, and two sightseeing or casual outfits.

Any of these outfits can be worn while commuting since we will be taking two overnight flights and two sleeper trains. I don't want to be in my pj's while on a train... but I do want to be comfortable. We hope to do laundry at least once while we are there. And we figured that if the weather is really cold or really hot (because even after looking at the forecasts, we all know things can change) we will just buy something there-which I plan to do anyway :)
